This was the first ever 2 day event for Fast Times at Farmington.
The weather the whole weekend, couldn't have been any better. High's in the 70's
with lows in the chilly 40's and beautiful clear skies! Many racers came out on
Saturday and did some testing, while others decided to do some heads up racing
in the Amsoil Quick 8 class. The ECPRA Pro Stock's were in attendance and did
their Qualifying passes on Saturday, which made things a lot smoother for
everyone.By Saturday's days end, there were 12 Pro Stocks in attendance with
another 2 showing up. This 14 car Pro Stock is the largest and Quickest field
EVER in the US! For more details on many records that were set by the Pro Stocks
and others, check out www.vwracingnews.com

During Saturday's events, we also had a Watercooled Show, but with a conflicting event in Charlotte, the attendance was low. We do appreciate each and everyone that came out on Saturday and showed their car and hope we can get a better grasp on the watercooled crowd for the future.
Sunday's Happenings.......
Sunday started out like it normally does with a mass rush of swap meeters coming
in until mid morning. More racers, the show car crowd and spectators were
packing them in like sardines by Noon.

Richard Cash, in his 69 Beetle, took top honors in the show area with a Best of Show and Best Paint, Randy Waller with his accessorized 66 Beetle took the Best Interior & Promoter’s Choice award and finally the Best Engine went to Lonnie & Kristi Fernatt with their spotless and detailed engine in their copper Dune Buggy. There were plenty of beautiful VWs all area the show area, to many to mention! Be sure to check out the show photos HERE for all the details. Special thanks to Lonnie Jacobs and Mark Alley for providing the photos of the event.
The Vendor midway was
packed with over 35 used swap meters and quite a few New parts vendors to chose
from. These guys started arriving as early as 6:30am and kept coming in until
about 10:30. There were plenty of folks walking away with new accessories for
their VWs.
What a great day for Racing! Approx 50 racers attended The Farm for the last race in North Carolina for 2007. Super Pro Class had a whopping 22 racers at the start of time runs, but in the finals it was Aaron Creech and Phillip Drew. Aaron took the win with a DI 5.92 RT .076 ET 6.26 MPH 91.72 against Phillip’s DI 7.18 RT .029 ET 8.16 MPH 87.77. The Pro class brought out 18 racers with Phillip Drew and Steve Martinez in the finals. Phillip took the win with a DI 7.50 RT .007 ET 7.94 MPH 81.98 Against Steve’s DI 8.24 RT .448 ET 8.44 MPH 72.64 Photos & Results of the race program from these two days can be found HERE
We certainly hope that each and everyone of you that came out to the event, had a good time! That is what these events are for! We are always looking to improve and can't do that with out your feedback. We know that the show section needs to be improved to help the judges find the cars easier, which will speed up the award time. Believe me, we are just as ready as you are by 3pm. We try to get the awards done in a timely matter, but sometimes it isn't always possible. If you would like to volunteer for a future show, please let us know. The Farmington event is only going to get bigger and if we don't get things straight now, it will be a mess later.
